Still deciding? These are the questions engaged couples ask us before they start. Plain answers, the numbers behind them, and where the limits are.
Trusted Prenup is an online prenuptial agreement you and your partner write together. You answer plain-English questions, the platform generates a state-specific agreement built to your answers, and you sign it on a video call with a licensed notary.
It was designed by James Sexton, Esq., a New York divorce attorney with more than 25 years of cases behind him. Every question in the flow is his.
It works in all 50 states and DC. Most couples finish in under 90 minutes.
Second marriage, or children from a previous relationship? Protecting their inheritance is the most common reason couples in the US get a prenup (54%, LawDepot 2024). You don't need the case for it; you need it done. Skip to how this compares to a lawyer, or how it works.
“Second marriage for both of us, kids on both sides. This let us protect what each family brings without a single awkward negotiation. Should've existed years ago.”
Every married couple has a prenup. Either you write it together, or your state already wrote one for you. It takes effect on your wedding day whether you've read it or not.
The state version decides how your income, your debt, the house, the inheritance and the business get treated. It was written for everyone, which means it wasn't written for you two.

A prenup is you replacing the state's default rules with your own. That matters more, not less, when there isn't a lot of margin for a bad outcome.
“I came into the marriage with student loans and hated the idea of them becoming Ash's problem. Ten minutes on the debt section and it was settled — mine stay mine. A relief for both of us.”
People who've signed one describe it very differently from people who haven't.
Talking about money before the wedding is one of the most honest things a couple can do. You make the decisions together, while you agree on everything, and you carry that into the marriage. Nothing about the conversation is about ending anything. It's about what you're building and how you'll protect it.
“You can't feel loved if you don't feel safe. A prenup gives both of you that safety before the wedding, in writing, on your own terms.”
James Sexton, Esq., creator of Trusted Prenup
“As the higher earner I expected this to feel awkward. It didn't — it felt like planning, not suspicion.”
“English isn't our first language, and legal wording made us nervous. The Spanish translation meant we understood every clause before we signed. Exactly what we needed.”
This is the question couples ask most, and it's the one the data is clearest on.
The questionnaire does most of the talking for you. It asks about one thing at a time, in order, with context for why it matters. Most couples describe it as the money conversation they'd been putting off, finally done in one sitting.
“We kept putting off 'the money talk.' The questionnaire basically had it for us — question by question.”
Two attorneys, two retainers, and weeks of drafts passed back and forth, for $5,000 to $15,000. The agreement covers the same ground as this one. The route to it is what's different.

“A coworker paid $7,000 for two lawyers to argue for two months. Ours was done in a weekend, and we both felt heard.”
Yes, when it follows the same rules as any other prenup. Courts don't care where a prenup was drafted. They care about three things, and the flow is built around all three.
A prenup signed without full disclosure is the easiest kind to challenge. The questionnaire walks each partner through assets, debts and income, and both of you see each other's answers before anything is generated. Nothing is hidden, so nothing can be claimed hidden later.
A document is not a prenup. What makes it hold up is that each of you read it, understood it and signed it voluntarily, with enough time before the wedding. Every term is approved by both partners before the agreement exists, and the timing rules for your state are built into the flow.
What makes a prenup enforceable in California isn't the same as in Texas or New York. Your agreement is generated for the state you're marrying in, from clauses James has watched hold up and fall apart in court for more than 25 years. If you want a licensed attorney in your state to walk you through it before you sign, that's available as an add-on.
Yes. Every term needs two approvals before the prenup exists. Where you disagree, the flow stops and asks you both to settle it. That's the part a template can't do.
Student loans taken out before the wedding stay with the person who took them out.
Debt taken on during the marriage is shared, regardless of whose name is on it.
Illustration of the alignment stage. The wording of the terms in the real flow depends on your state and your answers.
“The simplest prenup in the world is yours, mine, and ours.”
James Sexton, Esq.
James has spent more than 25 years watching it happen, and it's almost always one of four things: one partner didn't disclose everything, one partner was pressured, it was signed too close to the wedding, or it didn't match the state's law.
None of those are about where the prenup was written. They're about how. Trusted Prenup is built to remove each one: both of you disclose, both of you approve every term, the timing rules for your state are in the flow, and the agreement is generated for your state.
The couples who end up in James's office are the ones who left it to the default.

Because it's a complete, state-specific agreement built by a divorce attorney who has read thousands of them, and you're not paying him by the hour.

Here, the drafting is done. You're paying for the platform, the alignment between the two of you, and the option to bring in a lawyer at the end for a fixed price.
Most couples are done in under 90 minutes. No lawyers required, no back and forth, no $5,000 to $15,000 attorney bill.
Built in plain English. No legal background needed. James designed every question himself.
State-specific, legally secure, ready to review. Edit it, add clauses, or send it straight to an attorney.
Both of you sign on a video call with a licensed notary — it takes less than an hour. Your signed prenup is filed to your account immediately.
Every tier is the same prenup, written together in an afternoon. The difference is how it gets signed and whether a lawyer walks you through it first.

Yes. Every agreement is generated for the state you're marrying in, across all 50 states and DC. Attorney consultations aren't yet available in Virginia; the prenup itself is.
Probably not, but timing rules vary by state. In California, each partner should receive the final agreement at least 7 days before signing. Minnesota requires signing at least 7 days before the wedding. The flow accounts for your state, and the sooner you start the more room you have.
That's exactly what the questionnaire covers. Property, investments, business interests, debt and inheritance each have their own section, and you can add clauses for anything specific to you.
The $595 prenup is complete and valid on its own. Attorney review is a one-hour call for each partner with a licensed attorney in your state, so you each hear from your own counsel what you're signing before you sign it. It's $699 per partner and it's optional.
Online, on a video call with a licensed notary, for $50. Both of you sign in the same session from wherever you are. It takes under an hour.
There's a 7-day refund window on the core prenup and any add-ons. Email hello@trustedprenup.com within 7 days and we'll review it.
Yes. Your prenup can be translated so both of you read it in the language you're most comfortable with.
