⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What is a prenup, and do I really need one?

A prenuptial agreement (prenup) is a legal contract that outlines how finances, property, and responsibilities will be handled in the event of divorce or separation. It’s not just for the wealthy—it’s for any couple who wants to enter marriage with clarity, fairness, and peace of mind.

Is this legally binding?

Yes—when completed correctly and signed in accordance with your state’s legal requirements, the prenup you create here is legally binding.

We provide the framework and guidance to help you build a prenup that stands up in court. But you can always have a local attorney review it as well if you like, it’ll be cheaper than having them write it!

Is this suitable for all states?

Yes—the framework is designed to be flexible and align with the general principles of U.S. prenup law. We also provide guidance tailored to state-specific requirements where relevant.

How is this different to hiring a lawyer?

Hiring a lawyer for a prenup can cost thousands of dollars and often involves back-and-forth between attorneys. This tool simplifies the process, guiding both partners through the key questions with fairness and clarity—at a fraction of the cost.

Can we both fill it out together?

Yes—and we recommend it. Our builder is designed to be collaborative. You’ll go through the questions together, with helpful explanations and suggestions to guide the conversation.

What happens after we complete the prenup?

Once you’re done, you’ll get a downloadable, lawyer-grade document that’s ready to sign. Depending on your state, you may wish to have it notarized and/or reviewed by separate attorneys, but this is not necessarily required. Notarize online without even leaving your house, we’ll show you the way!

Can I use this if I am already married?

Not for a prenup—but you can create a postnup, which works similarly but is signed after marriage. We’re working on offering that too—stay tuned!

Who created this prenup builder?

Trusted Prenup was created by a team of legal and technology experts, led by James Sexton—one of America’s top divorce attorneys. Drawing on decades of real-world experience representing couples at every stage of marriage and separation, James worked closely with the team to design a smarter, more affordable way to create prenuptial agreements without the traditional stress, cost, or confusion.
